Calculation of pressure loss in piping systems (FDP)

FDP module

The calculation of the pressure loss of compressible and incompressible media is based on the known fluidic and thermodynamic approaches. The coefficient of friction is based on Nikuradse’s measurements and is equated by Colebrook.

The drag coefficients of built-in components are taken from the VDI Heat Atlas.

The FDP module is used to calculate compressible / non-compressible adiabatic pipe flow.

Various internals are taken into account in the pipeline section:

• pipe bends
• orifices
• non-return valves
• reducers
• fittings
